Rituals of Dev Diwali:

The main ritual of Dev Diwali is the lighting of diyas after seeing the moon. The steps of every ghats of River Ganga, right from southernmost Ravidas Ghat to Rajghat, are illuminated with millions of diyas lit in honour of Goddess Ganga and other presiding devas.

The devotees get up early on the day of Dev Diwali and perform the ‘Kartik snan’, that is a ritual of taking a dip in the holy Ganges). They perform ‘deepdan’ (offering oil lamps) in the honour of Goddess Ganga. Following this ‘Ganga aarti’ is performed by 24 Brahmin Priests along with 24 girls, with full devotion.

On this occasion of Dev Diwali, people decorate their houses with oil lamps. Colourful designs or rangoli are made on the front doors. In several houses in Varanasi, ‘Akhand Ramayana’ is organized along with offering bhogs.

In the evening, on the streets of Varanasi, huge processions of beautifully decorated deities are taken out with full enthusiasm. The night sky is lit up with the lights of the firecrackers. After the event, dance performances and cultural programmes by famous personalities of Varanasi also takes place.

Legend has it that in the mythological times, during a waging war between the demigods and demons for the possession of elixir of eternal life, a few drops of it had fallen on to four places that are today known as Prayag, Haridwar, Ujjain, and Nasik. It is believed that these drops gave mystical powers to these places. It is to make oneself gain on those powers that Kumbh Mela has been celebrated in each of the four places since long as one can remember. On reaching, check in to the hotel. After taking rest, head out to visit Sujata Temple, Sujata Kheerdan Stahal, Mahabodhi Temple, Bodhi Tree, Great Buddha Statue and Monastery. According to legend, Lord Ram, Sita and Lakshman stayed in the region for about 11 years of their 14-year exile and met Hermit Atri and Sati Anasuya. It is also believed that all the gods and goddesses came to Chitrakoot when Lord Ram performed the final rites of his father here and refused to leave as they were mesmerized by the beauty of the place. Vashishta, the priest forgot to utter the immersion chant and the gods made the town their permanent dwelling. The saint poet, Goswami Tulsidas could witness Lord Ram after pleading to Lord Hanuman in Chitrakoot.

Chitrakoot is of great religious importance as it is one of the most important teerths and has a status even higher than that of Allahabad. There are many festivals celebrated in the town like Shrawan Jhoola Mela, Amavasya Fair, Ramnavami, Diwali, Vijaydashami and Navratri.

Chitrakoot is a popular destination known for its natural beauty and numerous religious places of interest like Kamadgiri which in Sanskrit means the mountain that fulfils all desires. The peculiarly shaped mountain has many caves and also has a huge lake. Ram Ghat, on the banks of the Mandakini River with its temples, is worth visiting. DO SEE 

There are a few ashrams like the Valmiki Ashram, Sutikshna Ashram and Sati Anusuya Ashram that are popular religious places of interest.     Day 01Varanasi – Arrival + Ganga Arti

    Arrival at Varanasi Airport/Railway Station, Our Representative will Meet & Greet you. Later transfer to your pre-booked hotel. Overnight stay at Varanasi.

    Day 02-Varanasi – Boat Ride at sunrise – Temple tour

    Early in the morning, we will be taken for a boat ride on the Ganges. It is a mystical and spiritual experience as you watch people offering water to the Sun God and devotees taking holy dip in the Ganges. We will visit all the famous Ghats of Varanasi via boat. Latter visit the most religious Kashi Vishwanath temple, Annapurna Temple. Come back to hotel for breakfast.
    After breakfast, visit to famous Temples of Varanasi like BHU, ( Birla Temple , Bharat Kala Bhawan, Museum), Manas Mandir, Sankat Mochan, Durga Temple(Hanuman temple/Monkey Temple), Tridev Temple, The Bharat Mata temple.
    In the evening, have leisure time for Shopping in Varanasi (optional and on your own). Night stay at Hotel in Varanasi.

    Day 03- Varanasi – Sarnath- Ramnagar

    Early in the morning, we will again be taken for a bath on the Ganges. It is a mystical and spiritual experience as you watch people offering water to the Sun God and devotees taking holy dip in the Ganges.(as per your wish) then come to the hotel.
    After breakfast, we will be taken for an excursion to Sarnath. Sarnath is the place where Lord Buddha delivered his first sermon to his disciples in deer park. The attractions at Sarnath are the Buddha temples, the Dhamekha stupa,Chaukhandi stupa and the Archaeological Museum.
    Later we will visit Ramnagar Fort Formerly the residence of Maharaja of Benaras, this 17th century stronghold is best seen from the river. Reached via a dilapidated bridge or by ferry during the monsoon season, the fort also contains an interesting museum that contains some elaborate relics. Expect to see everything from gruesome elephant traps to astrological clocks and razor-sharp swords. Night stay at Hotel in Varanasi.

    Day 04- Varanasi- Allahabad- (150km- 03 Hrs)

    After breakfast, drive to Allahabad where we will enjoy a bath on the Sangam (where Holy River Ganga, Yamuna and Srawasti confluence ). It is a mystical and spiritual experience as you watch people offering water to the Sun God and devotees taking dip in Sangan point.
    Note- to reach near Sangam, you have to hire a boat(by your own).
    Latter we will cover the other spot in Allahabad like Hanuman Temple, Anand Bhavan - one of the country’s best-running museums in memory of Jawahar Lal Nehru. Swaraj Bhawan - the house where the former Prime Minister of India Mrs. Indira Gandhi was born. Bharadwaj park.
    Latter drive back to Varanasi. Night stay at Hotel in Varanasi.

    Day 05-Varanasi – Ayodhya(225 Km- 04 Hrs-)

    After breakfast, we drive to Ayodhya , first we go to the Sarayu River and take a bath there .(as per your wish) then Visit to RAMA JANMA BHOOMI – a temple of Lord Ram. Ramayana states that river Sayaru’s bank is the birthplace of lord Rama. The 7th avatar of Vishnu, Lord Rama is believed to have taken birth here. In the sixteenth century, Babur, the Mughal emperor built a mosque “Babri Mosque” at the place where Rama took birth but it was destroyed in 1992.Currently stay has been put on that Land for creation of new temple by Supreme court of India.
    HANUMAN GARHI TEMPLE –Hanuman Garhi is an ancient temple situated in the center of the town, which houses a statue of child Hanuman seated at the lap of mother Anjani. There is a belief that Hanuman lived here in a cave and guarded the Janambhoomi of Ram. The structure of this famous shrine in Ayodhya is massive in the shape of four-sided fort with circular bastions at each corner.
    Latter drive back to Varanasi. Night stay at Hotel in Varanasi.

    Day 06-Varanasi – Vindhyachal - Chunar- Varanasi

    After breakfast, drive to Mirzapur, to visit Vindhyachal which is situated in the middle of the two holy cities- Allahabad and Varanasi on the bank of River Ganges in the Mirzapur district. The built up area lies along the direction of the River Ganges with the temple of Vindhyavasini in the centre. The city is dedicated to Goddess Vindhyavasini - one of the renowned Shakti Peethas of the country and an important religious and pilgrim centre. There are many other temples and mineral springs (locally known as Kunds) in the vicinity of the town.
    Vindhyavasini, Ashtabhuja and Kali Khoh are three main Shakti temples here, located on the three corners of Vindhya Parvat. The divine trinity is worshipped here as Ma Laxmi, Ma Kali and Ma Saraswati. Bhairav temples are located around the city centre to ward off evil effects, viz., Anand Bhairav on the east, Sidhanath on the west, Kapal Bhairav on the south & Rudra Bhairav on the north side. ‘Kajali’ the local folk music is dedicated to Ma Vindhyavasini. All Kajali singers from north India come here to celebrate Kajali Mahotsava (Festival). People come here to seek blessings from goddess of power. Tantriks also visit this place for Tantra sadhana (Meditation).
    Latter we will drive for Chunar to see Chunar Fort, Sonwa Mandap, Samadhi of bhartrihari and , Bungalow of warren Hastings ,Britsh Cemetory and on the way to Varanasi, we can see the famous poetry work by local people.
    Later drive to Varanasi & Overnight stay in Varanasi.

    Day 07- Varanasi – Special Lord Shiva tour with Mangla Arti in Kashi Vishwanath Temple

    Starting early in the morning at 2:30 am for Magala arrti, it happens everyday early morning (first prayer to Lord Shiva with enchanting of Mantra) in Kashi Vishwanath Temple- one of 12 jyotirlingas in India. It takes about one hrs time to complete. Come back to the hotel for breakfast .After breakfast, half day visit to Markande Maha Dev(35 km-01 hrs) which is another famous Lord Shiva temple near Varanasi. Later, I came back to Hotel. After lunch, visit Kal bhairav, Batuk Bhairav Temple, Maha Mritumjay,Shri Swaminarayan Temple, Adikesaw temple. Then back to the hotel & overnight stay in Varanasi. Post Breakfast half day sightseeing to Varanasi , later drive towards Varanasi Airport/Railway Station.

    Day 08- Varanasi –Drop to Airport/Railway station
